I’ve always been interested in all industries and business models that are going to be strongly influenced by the internet in the coming years. My most recent contribution on this topic is a while back, though, and aimed to shine some light into the dark world of the opticians. I came to the conclusion that the central European giant Fielmann would win all in German-speaking territories. Recently, I had several interesting discussions with people in the insurance industry, where there have been various attempts in recent years either to block the economic developments coming from the internet – or to force them.
