In Stanford, there’s currently a course that’s making waves called “How to Start a Startup”. Sam Altmann, managing director of what is probably the world’s leading incubator, YCombinator, has managed to convince the premier league of Silicon Valley entrepreneurs to share their experiences about setting up companies in this series of lectures – all of which are freely accessible on YouTube. Meanwhile, in the Gründerszene community, new ideas about this are being added every week.

At times like these, I really miss high-quality financial journalism. There is so much exciting stuff happening in e-commerce that is hard to get a grip on, and so putting a few more well-founded opinions on the market would be of great use to everyone interested. Yet reporting on the Zalando and Rocket IPO was pretty weak as it is, so it’s clear to see why there’s no-one willing or able to report on companies further down the list.
